Motivational Talks & Discussions with Stefano Manfredi
Stefano Manfredi is a regular columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald’s Spectrum and Italian magazine Voi Tutti and is often invited to cook, teach and present on food both locally and internationally. As a guest speaker, he addresses subjects including Italian food, the history of modern Australian cuisine and the migrant experience. He presents at olive oil, coffee and wine tastings and holds active, hands-on cooking demonstrations throughout Australia.Stefano’s influence began when he opened The Restaurant Manfredi in 1983. A decade later he was awarded three chef’s hats in the coveted Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide.
It was with the opening of Sydney’s bel mondo in 1996, that Stefano stepped firmly onto the international stage. The restaurant was awarded Best New Restaurant and Best Italian Restaurant in The Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Food Guide and continued to pull a raft of awards including the prestigious international awards; the Insegna del Ristorante from the Italian Government and the inaugural IICIF (Italian International Culinary Institute for Foreigners) award. Bel mondo enjoyed a reputation as one of Sydney’s finest restaurants and consequently became one of the most awarded and well known world class dining experiences the city had to offer. In 2002, the Manfredi family sold the restaurant.
In December 2007, Stefano joined forces with Karina and Brian Barry to establish a world class restaurant in the quiet coastal town, of Killcare Heights. His seasonal menu was Italian inspired, based largely on the harvest from the estate’s lush fruit and vegetable garden and reflects his approach to values of sustainability in food use and production.
Stefano also enjoys success as a food writer. In 1993 Fresh from Italy, Italian cooking for the Australian Kitchen was published and is now in its third edition. Bel mondo beautiful world came next followed by Seasonal in 2007 and Seasonal Favourites which launched in mid 2009. Italian Food was published in 2012.
