What's on in Killcare

Join us for our inaugural 4-day Signature Bouddi Trek.

Trek August 20 to 23, 2024

A guided multi-day adventure, where you will immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of Bouddi National Park. Your host, Nicola Billens from Elixir Journeys will guide you through 4 iconic trails on the Bouddi peninsula from tessellated rugged coastlines, sandstone plateaus, ancient angophoras and breathtaking views to Palm Beach, the Hawkesbury River, and the Pacific Ocean. Explore the Bouddi National Park's most stunning wilderness by foot, stopping along the coastline for morning tea in surprise locations and feasting on picnic lunches on secluded beaches. To end the day, enjoy sunset drinks before experiencing delicious wintery fireside dining with food harvested from our onsite vegetable garden by acclaimed chef Cameron Cansdell. There's even time to indulge in Bells Day Spa after an adventurous day out in the park & you'll enjoy some yin yoga & forest bathing.

Day 1 - Bullimah Spur Trail - 4km
Start your adventure with an afternoon ‘Lay of the Land’ hike, that weaves through the semi-rural properties of Killcare Heights and into Bouddi National Park. Walking past giant boulders and through an Angophora forest, you’ll arrive to breathtaking clifftop views with a birds eye view of the terrain we will be exploring over the next few days.

Graded 3 due to some steep hills & rough surfaces.

This evening, enjoy a hosted group Welcome Dinner in the library with your new walking friends.

Day 2 – Bouddi Coastal Trail - 10km
After breakfast you’ll be walking the full length of the Bouddi Coastal Trail, from the holiday village of MacMasters to Killcare’s Putty Beach. The undulating walk traverses a variety of terrain, through bush, across sand and finishes by hugging the coast with spectacular views back to Sydney. You’ll enjoy plenty of rest stops and time for a picnic lunch and swim at secluded Maitland Bay.

Graded 4 with steep sections & rough surfaces (elevation 364m).

Later this afternoon enjoy sunset drinks in the garden followed by dinner in The Wild Flower Bar & Dining.

Day 3 – The Pretty Peninsula - 8km
After breakfast we will transfer you to our sister property Pretty Beach House where you will embark on your hike of ‘The Pretty Peninsula’. You’ll begin with a walk out to the tip of Box head with stunning views of Lion Island and down the Hawkesbury River, followed by a picnic lunch on wild and remote Tallows Beach.  Afterwards we hike to Lobster Beach through ancient angophora forest that are typically blanketed in wildflowers over winter months.

Graded 3 with some steep hills & rough surfaces (elevation 260m).

Back at Bells this afternoon, stretch out your limbs with a relaxing yin yoga session in the conservatory, before sunset drinks at Hardys Bay followed by dinner fireside.

Day 4 – Remedy Walk - 4km
On your final morning, after a leisurely breakfast enjoy a relaxing 'Remedy Walk' in yet another part of the park. Combining facets of forest bathing and meditation with the awe of looking at nature with childlike wonder, the Remedy Walk is designed to be just that - an antidote to the stresses of everyday life.

Graded 2 easy & gentle.

Afterwards, celebrate your achievements with a final plat du jour lunch (optional, not included), before you depart.

After 6 years of living on the Bouddi Peninsula, Nicola now calls herself a local. She started guiding in the Flinders Ranges and has hosted trips all over Australia. During the pandemic years, she walked over 500 kilometres along all the local bush trails and knows each one intimately. She is passionate about helping people appreciate the wonders of nature, so that they will be more inclined to take care of it, and while she won’t bamboozle you with Latin names for rare plant species, she might recommend you hug a tree.
